This is the most involved project in the course, and it is worth every minute.

A pop-up book is something your child will keep. Years from now, they will pull it out and remember sitting with you and making it. I know this because my daughter still has hers.

You don't need to make it elaborate. Even a three-page pop-up book with simple shapes and a short story is something magical when it's made by hand. The mechanics of a page that opens and something rises — children never quite get over that, no matter how many times they see it.
What you'll need:

- Several sheets of cardstock or any thick paper of a minimum of 100lb and paper size can be as small as 5x7 inches
- Scrapbook page for the cover
- Scissors
- Glue stick or craft glue
- Colored pencils/ markers/crayons/pastel for illustrating
- Black pen or Black fine-liner
- Pencil
- Printouts of favorite characters or any illustrations from the template

Before you begin:

Spend five minutes deciding together what the book will be about—an animal, a place, an imaginary world, something from your child's life. Once you have the subject, the rest falls into place more easily.
