This is the last lesson, and I deliberately saved it for last.
Embroidery is slow. That's not a warning — it's the point.

In a course built around 45-minute projects, embroidery is the one that asks you to slow down even more than usual. The rhythm of pulling thread through fabric, stitch by stitch, is its own kind of quiet. Children who try it either love it immediately or need a few minutes to settle into it. Either way, what happens when they do settle into it is worth the wait.

This is also the project most connected to my own history. Hand-craft traditions — embroidery, textile work, making things with thread — run through the cultures I come from. Sitting with my daughter and teaching her even the most basic stitches felt like passing something forward that had been passed to me, even if indirectly.
What you'll need:

- An embroidery hoop (small, 6 inches)
- Cotton fabric or an old pillowcase stretched in the hoop or special embroidery material (usually cotton)
- Embroidery floss (threads) in two or three colors
- Sewing thread
- A needle
- Small scissors
- A pencil or black pen-liner
- Sticky paper or water-soluble fabric marker for tracing the design

You don't need to know how to embroider to do this project. The attached stitch guide will walk you through everything from the basic stitches used in the design to washing the cloth after completing the embroidery. Download them here.
Before you begin:

Thread the needle yourself for your child the first time. Show them once how to pull the thread through and secure it at the back. Then let them go at their own pace. There is no rushing this one.
Lesson 1. Supplies "Embroidering"
Lesson 2. Bonus lesson "Embroidering."
That's the full course — seven projects and two bonus lessons. I hope some of these hours stayed in your memory the way they stayed in ours!
It has been a genuine pleasure having you here.
